ZNU-Standard
In 2023, we have taken a significant step: Windel GmbH & Co. KG has achieved the ZNU Sustainable Business Standard, which independently certifies our comprehensive management system in the field of sustainability. This standard supports companies in systematically integrating sustainable action into business processes in all departments. The aim of the standard is to enable companies to minimise their environmental and social impact while remaining economically successful.
EcoVadis ranking
In 2024, we have reached a significant milestone: Windel GmbH & Co. KG has successfully participated in the EcoVadis ranking and has been awarded the silver medal for its committed sustainability efforts. The ranking is based on the criteria of environment, labour practices & human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. Through a thorough analysis, EcoVadis evaluates companies with regard to integrating sustainability into the business strategy and creates comparability between companies.
VEA Initiative Climate-Friendly SMEs
With our membership in the VEA Initiative Climate-Friendly SMEs, we are actively committed to climate protection. The initiative offers us individual advice, action plans and best practice examples from SMEs in order to find effective solutions for reducing our CO2 emissions. We also benefit from a strong network and regular exchange with other members.

Quality is our focus and forms the basis of our daily activities. We always want to meet customer requirements and can accordingly offer the following certifications and quality features depending on the product type:
IFS International Food Standard
The IFS Food Standard is an internationally recognised standard. It is used to review products and their production processes to assess a food manufacturer's ability to produce safe, authentic and high quality products in accordance with legal requirements and customer specifications. The fulfilment of the criteria is checked annually by external, accredited and independent certification bodies. Windel has been IFS certified since 2003 and meets the requirements at a higher level.
Rainforest Alliance
The Rainforest Alliance certification programme includes social, economic and environmental components and serves to promote more sustainable agricultural production and responsible supply chains. The certification programme is committed to protecting and improving forests, climate, human rights and the livelihoods of producers.
Fairtrade
The aim of Fairtrade is to improve the standard of living of the people and families involved in production in the countries of origin. Fairtrade producers receive stable minimum prices for their products and thus a higher and more reliable income than in conventional trade. The Fairtrade label identifies sustainably grown and fairly traded products.
RSPO
The goal of the RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) is a sustainable palm oil industry through the development and implementation of global standards for the production and procurement of certified palm oil.

Bio certificate
The aim of organic farming is to operate in cycles in harmony with nature. The Bio certificate is used to label products that meet the requirements of the EU organic regulation. The regulations apply to manufacturing, processing and trade. Compliance with this is checked by a state-approved inspection body at least once a year.
Vegan / V-Label
The internationally recognised V-Label is a quality label that identifies vegan and vegetarian products. It is intended to help consumers recognise plant-based products at first glance. Compliance with vegan criteria is checked annually.
Toy safety
To ensure that our toys meet the quality standards of the respective destination/country, they are regularly subjected to extensive tests by independent, accredited testing laboratories. The safety of our products plays the biggest role in protecting our consumers from possible dangers. Tested contents include the avoidance of small parts that can be swallowed and sharp edges, the use of non-toxic substances and compliance with safety regulations and standards. As a seal for the European market, the CE mark is used as a symbol for safe, flawless and high-quality goods. Necessary warnings and age recommendations are individually adapted to the product.
Halal
Halal refers to all things that are permissible and permitted under the law of Islam. In the context of food, halal means that the product is suitable for every Muslim to eat. Compliance with halal criteria is checked once a year by a Muslim examiner.
Amfori BSCI
Windel GmbH & Co. KG is a member of amfori, a leading company initiative to improve working conditions in global supply chains. Our company undertakes to comply with the values and principles contained in the amfori BSCI Code and to implement them along the supply chain. In other EU countries, we mainly work with amfori BSCI-certified suppliers.
